1,4 butanediol

It is used as an industrial solvent in the production of certain types of plastics, elastic fibers, polyester fabrics (spandex - elastane) and polybutylene terephthalate polyurethanes. In organic chemistry, 1,4-butanediol is used for the synthesis of tetrahydrofuran and γ-butyrolactone (GBL). A significant amount of 1,4-butanediol is used in pharmaceutical(in the synthesis of medicines and medical products), cosmetic, textile, food and electronic industries, in the production of herbicides, paint solvents, and other organoleptic products.
