Thioglycolic acid

Used to stabilize PVC, thioglycolates are used as additives that regulate the molecular weight of the polymerization products of Acrylonitrile and methyl methacrylate. Thioglycolic acid is also used as an additive to fixing solutions in photography to prevent the release of silver on the walls of baths, during etching to reduce metal corrosion, to dissolve and remove lignin from wood.
