Benzoic acid

In the food industry, benzoic acid is used in the manufacture of products such as sauces, pastes, ketchups, soups, purees, pulps, jellies, marmalades, meat and fish products, soft and alcoholic beverages, canned vegetables and fruits. In medicine, benzoic acid is used as an antimicrobial and antifungal agent. But the largest proportion of benzoic acid is used in the chemical industry as the main reagent for the production of many organic substances.
